Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry (COD), Division of Pediatric Dentistry invite applications and nominations for the position of Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Program Director. This full-time position as clinical or tenure track assistant or associate professor includes leading the degree-granting Graduate Pediatric Dentistry program. Additionally, the director will participate in the program’s teaching, research and patient care programs. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in clinical care, scholarship and program administration. For tenure appointment, candidates must demonstrate a sustained, outstanding record of teaching and research.
NCH is the largest pediatric hospital in the United States. Its Department of Dentistry, with Sections of Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, provides the full range of dental and ancillary services in a new 30-chair dental clinic that is complemented by a surgery center with three operating rooms, both of which utilize Epic EHR and digital radiography. The Department is projected to provide 47,000 dental visits and 3,300 surgical and sedation procedures. The pediatric dentistry residency training program is CODA-approved for 16 residents with NCH serving as the primary clinical training site.
The COD is the only public dental school in Ohio and it educates more than 60% of the state’s dentists and is distinguished nationally by its engagement of faculty throughout the campus, around the state, and across the nation in a host of experiences that provide enriching professional opportunities. Comprised of ten divisions, the COD supports eight advanced dental education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), in addition to a residency training program in general practice.
Applicants must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent, a certificate from a CODA-accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry, and board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Applicants must also possess the qualifications required to obtain an Ohio dental license (http://dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist.aspx) and an appointment to the medical staff of NCH. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching and research experience, and a MS, PhD, or EdD or other advanced degrees.
