Provi des nursing services to patients and families in accordancewith the scop e of the LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board ofNursing.
Provide and document direct nursing care of ass igned patients under thesupervision of a registered nurse or physician.Nursing care is guidedby the physician orders and the nursing plan of ca re. Patient responseto care is reported to a registered nurse for evalua tion, interventionand modification of the plan of care. Assistotherhea lth care personnelin the delivery of patient care.Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance ofvarious diagnostic procedur es.Evaluate nursing care with emphasis on nursing procedures and patient responses; assist in the delivery of nursing care and selection ofnursin gpriorities.Assist in the development and implementation of general pol icies andprocedures to provide for the emotional and physical comfort an d safetyof patients; participate in the formulation of new policies.Part icipate in maintaining the environment of care including equipmentand ot her material resources.Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities and assists in performa nce improvementactivities.Assist with control of material resources and maintenance; assist inappraisal of effectiveness of material and equipme nt and report anyequipment malfunctions to charge nurse.Participate in i n-service education programs and other conferenceswithin the service.Ass ist in the training of new employees.Perform other related duties incide ntal to the work described herein.
