We are looking for a BC/BE internist to replace a retiring practitioner and join our stable group of outstanding physicians and PA's at Springfield Hospital Center. Springfield is an inpatient psychiatric facility in beautiful historic Sykesville, near Baltimore and Washington DC. You will work closely with the attending psychiatrist and manage patients' medical problems. You will have wonderful support from administration, nursing and ancillary staff in a culturally diverse, friendly and collegial environment. Patients that may require medical hospitalization are referred to local hospitals. A full range of consultants are available on site and outside of Springfield. If desired, supplement your income with very manageable voluntary call on site on nights, weekends and holidays which are otherwise completely off. Main Purpose: A staff physician is charged with the duty of evaluating, diagnosing, admitting, treating patients, and making discharge and after-care plans for the patients admitted to the hospital, with the participation of the patients, most commonly of young adult age and middle age, less commonly of geriatric age, and only rarely adolescents on the deaf unit. All clinical activities and duties which include regular assignments and serving elsewhere as needed, are to be carried out in accordance with hospital policies, rules and regulations in accordance with performance improvement goals, and within the fiscal constraints mandated to the hospital. All clinical activities are to be documented in the medical record as required by hospital policies.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university. Experience: As required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education. |
