Adult Psychiatry at Carilion Clinic

Our division is comprised of general psychiatrists and nurse practitioners who work closely with the psychiatrists. In addition our patients benefit from the care of experienced and well trained social workers, psychologists, and care coordinators. These professionals share individual cases to ensure that each patient is given the best care possible. 

Geriatric Psychiatry at Carilion Clinic

The Geriatric Psychiatry service at Carilion Clinic plays an integral role in fostering the commitment that the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine has to the population we serve. The process of aging is complex, and the availability of expertise in the mental health of older adults is important. Our faculty are board-certified in both general psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry.

Director of Telepsychiatry:

We seek a senior psychiatrist to join and lead our Telehealth program. We are currently involved in multiple clinical efforts targeting our support of Carilion’s growing network of six hospitals and 45 patient centered medical homes across 240 miles of western Virginia through synchronous and asynchronous models. These efforts are supported in part by $750,000 of grants to develop and implement innovative care delivery initiatives. Opportunities exist to develop integrated undergraduate and graduate medical education in these efforts. Board certification in General Adult Psychiatry or a Subspecialty required; previous experience with Telehealth preferred.

Faculty Positions - Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Carilion Clinic, a physician led multispecialty academic healthcare organization with over 700 physicians has Psychiatrist opportunities requiring the ability to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia. These inpatient/outpatient faculty positions are associated with Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 700-bed teaching/tertiary referral center with 12 acute child and adolescent psychiatric beds. Responsibilities include direct clinical services, teaching medical students, supervising residents and fellows, and integrating research with clinical practice. There are opportunities for research collaboration with world-renowned neuroscientists at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Fralin Biomedical Research Institute.
