SUMMARY: This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) a Bachelor's Degree, BSN strongly preferred; B) an active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN); C) Life Support Certifications (see specifics below); and D) a minimum of 2 years full time or equivalent nursing experience. Pediatric experience preferred. Bilingual skills desirable.
Life Support Certifications Required:1) HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days; 2) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position; 3) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 12 months.
POSITION DETAILS: Full Time 4 x 10 hour shifts per week preferred but 3 x 11.5 hour shifts per week can be an option, Day shift, no call or weekends.
