The University of Missouri for School of Medicine (SOM), MU Health Care (MUHC), and the Missouri Psychiatric Center (MUPC) are seeking an innovative, strategic leader to be the Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. This position offers the opportunity to lead our well-established Division its innovative clinical programs, and its well-staffed faculty into the future. This includes serving the needs of the children and families of Missouri, supporting a large, dynamic tertiary-care children’s hospital system composed of two hospitals.
The Director will participate in and lead the child and adolescent portion of an exceptionally strong psychiatry education program that is one of the leading undergraduates and graduate medical education programs in the region. Additionally, they will help develop and advance our nationally recognized prevention and treatment programs, which are prized by our state and sponsoring institutions.
The Division of Child Psychiatry is the academic and clinical center for training and clinical treatment within the Department of Psychiatry at MU School of Medicine. The Director will play a prominent role in developing a compelling vision for clinical services within the Division that is focused on growth and embraces MU's education, research, and clinical care missions. This is an opportunity to develop an infrastructure to support the Division that will be recognized regionally and nationally as an innovative market leader for providing comprehensive and high-quality child and adolescent psychiatry clinical services and cutting-edge clinical research.
This is a key leadership role in the Department of Psychiatry, and MUPC and the opportunity to guide the development of not only the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry but also to have a significant impact on an entire state. The new Director will be a transformational physician and an executive who can lead change in a highly productive clinical Division. We seek a strong leader in child and adolescent psychiatry with a powerful combination of vision, energy, and leadership who will embrace the patient-centric culture within MUPC. This Director must have a passion for developing state-of-the-art services along with a strong business sense and ability to responsibly manage the human, material, and financial resources. Interests or experience in grant writing and/or research are preferred, but not required. Additionally, this division leader will align the resources of the Division with psychiatric care across our health system. Position Summary: The new leader will be board-certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, have significant leadership skills and excel in at least two (2) of the areas of our three-fold mission: clinical care, education, and research. The Director will also work effectively with the leadership of MUPC and MUHC. They will lead a dynamic faculty of two (2) physicians based primarily in the inpatient Division; one (1) physician on the assessment unit; and another six (6) child and adolescent psychiatrists who are primarily based in our outpatient clinic. These numbers will likely double over the next 3-5 years. The Director will foster collaboration and engagement across research, teaching, and clinical missions. They will foster new interdisciplinary initiatives designed to engage multiple disciplines throughout the University, region, and nationally and internationally.
