Clinical

Provide inpatient pediatric rehabilitation medicine consultative services.

Establish an outpatient pediatric rehabilitation medicine practice including specialty clinics as appropriate based on the needs of the system's pediatric patient population.

Educate clinical departments and other potential referral sources on pediatric rehabilitation services through grand rounds presentations, outreach to physician practice groups, and community education.

Teaching

As a pediatric physiatrist you will serve on the faculty of the New York Medical College School of Medicine and be eligible for a primary academic appointment in the School's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the assistant or associate professor level (Clinician-Educator or Educator Track) depending on qualifications. This appointment will be granted by the Dean of the School of Medicine at the recommendation of the Department Chair pending approval by the Promotions and Tenure Committee. As a member of the faculty, you will be expected to perform the following:

• Provide instruction and supervision of 3rd and 4th year medical students rotating through the rehabilitation medicine service.
• Participate in the medical student rehab medicine didactics series.
• Mentor medical students interested in PM&R.
• Attend Department grand rounds, journal clubs, and faculty meetings.
• Participate in Department of Rehabilitation Medicine committees as requested.
• Assist with the establishment of a PM&R Residency Training Program at WMC.
• Supervise and train residents assigned to the pediatric rehabilitation medicine service.
• Examine the feasibility of establishing a pediatric rehabilitation medicine fellowship training program at WMC.
• You may opt to participate in more formalized teaching opportunities at the School of Medicine. Some options will include serving as a small group preceptor for the Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine courses (FCM-1 or FCM-2), present clinical lectures to 1st and 2nd year medical students, and participate in the 3rd year students' longitudinal instruction curriculum.

Administrative

Serve as director of the NYMC 3rd year student clerkship in PM&R and participate in the School of Medicine's clerkship and curriculum restructuring.

Promote strategic pediatric rehabilitation program development at WMC in collaboration with the Director of Rehabilitation Medicine and hospital administration.

Identify potential areas of growth in pediatric rehabilitative services including multidisciplinary specialty clinics, prosthetics/orthotics/ seating, cognitive/behavioral services etc.

Establish and maintain close communication and collaboration with the acute pediatric services, the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, and other related disciplines.

Participate in hospital-wide committees as assigned.

Meet and maintain all hospital credentialing requirements.
